Veneers
When you smile, do you do so with confidence?
If chipped, cracked, misaligned, or broken and dark teeth are keeping you from flashing your pearly whites every chance you get, we’ve got a solution that might be perfect for you: Custom made porcelain veneers.
Veneers are made to match the look of your natural teeth and sit on top of your teeth like a jacket. The procedure is entirely non-invasive and doesn’t require any type of surgery.
Instead, you’ll get to have your veneers placed in just a couple of office visits to our practice, and leave with a smile you’ll be happy to show off.
The Veneer Process: What’s it Like?
We’ll start the consultation by looking at your teeth to get a better idea on whether or not veneers are a viable treatment for you. If we think so, we’ll talk about your concerns and what you hope to achieve by getting veneers, as well as decide on how many teeth to do.
We’ll then take molds and impressions along with digital scans of your mouth, which will be used to craft your new, custom veneers.
Veneers require two visits, as we send your scans and molds to a lab where they’ll be crafted out of strong porcelain. Then, you’ll return for a follow-up visit where they’ll be placed on top of your problematic teeth.
During veneer treatment, we’ll need to shave down your natural teeth slightly so the veneer fits on top of it-this is not painful, and be assured that we’ll always do everything to keep you comfortable. Then, we’ll bond the veneer to your natural teeth, giving you a chance to make sure you love the placement before it’s made permanent. Your new veneers will be color matched to your natural teeth, so they’ll look incredible from the get-go.
Dental Veneers FAQ
Are there advantages of getting dental veneers?
Yes. Cosmetic veneers require less tooth alteration than something like a dental crown, since only the front of the tooth is involved. Veneers allow you to select exactly how bright and white you want your teeth to look.
How many appointments are required?
Three. We begin with a diagnostic visit where we take impressions of your teeth to create what’s called a “wax up”. This model allows you to preview what your new smile will look like before we even prep your teeth. From there we schedule the preparation appointment and final placement, which is about two weeks later.
How should I care for my dental veneers?
It’s important to practice good oral hygiene each day to prevent any gum disease or decay in the supporting tooth. Avoid biting into anything too hard, as it could cause the porcelain to chip.
How long do cosmetic veneers last?
With proper hygiene and routine checkups you can expect your dental veneers to last at least 5-10 years. Porcelain is quite durable.
Is there anyone who isn’t a candidate for veneers?
Yes. People with active periodontal disease or clenching and grinding (bruxism) habits typically don’t qualify. If you’re grinding your teeth together throughout the day or while you’re sleeping, it could cause the porcelain to fracture off. Additionally, veneers are only recommended for adults whose teeth are completely developed. Younger teens should wait until they’re much older before seeking out veneer treatment. If your child has a chipped front tooth, we can work to find a practical alternative.
How many dental veneers do I need?
The cost of veneers is directly impacted by the number of teeth involved in the treatment. Depending on the width of your smile, most people need about six veneers across their upper front teeth. Someone with a wider smile may need as many as 8-10 veneers. In limited cases, as few as four veneers in total may be necessary.
